Kampala International University (KIU), the No. 1 Private University and 2nd overall best ranked University in Uganda, has solidified its position in the latest Webometrics World Ranking of Universities for three rank sessions in a row. The January 2024 University ranking in relation to the East African Region, KIU was ranked 3rd after Makerere University and the University of Nairobi, respectively, while the University of Dar-es-salaam in Tanzania, came 4th, followed by Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in the 5th position.

Kampala International University

On the African Continent, KIU has moved up to the 47th position compared to 61st, a position it attained in the July 2023 ranking. In Africa, KIU and Makerere Universities were the only Ugandan universities that made it to the list of the top 50. Uganda is said to have more than 53 accredited Universities, made up of both public (just over 10) and private universities (majority).
